With YouTube being a favourite for most Filipinos, this particular marketing channel is ripe with possible prospects. In fact, it seems as though most Pinoy’s prefer videos rather than reading articles. When it comes to video marketing however, I believe that although the views are important, it’s the subscriptions that will truly determine your success.
Be Constant
The whole point of subscribing is so that viewers could be reminded if you’ve posted new videos. If you can’t do that often though, their subscribing to your channel wouldn’t really matter. This is why you’ve got to have a routine for uploading videos, maybe have one every week. This way, people will have no problem clicking the “subscribe” button because they know there’s actually something to look forward to.
Ask for a Subscription
Asking your viewers to subscribe is a simple and most direct way of building your subscriber list. The technique is exactly how to ask them the question. Well, this really depends on the type of video you’re posting. Some prefer to end their videos by requesting for a subscription in big, bold letters. Others prefer to do this by pointing an arrow to the area where subscribe is. If you’re on the video yourself, you might try asking for a subscribe verbally.
Turn On Comments and Converse
Filipinos love to comment and give their opinion on everything they watch. If you can engage them in conversation, then that would be much better. This would give viewers a much better incentive to go back to your video and even make them look forward to more discussions.
Communicate with Watchers
Getting mentioned in a video is always flattering, especially if you know a few hundred people are also watching it. Have you ever seen a Natalie Tran video? She has this special segment where she asks a question at the end of a video and instructs viewers to leave an answer in the comments section. The next time she posts a video, her favourite answers are shown along with the usernames of the people who made them. This is a great marketing strategy if you want your viewers to come back! Other games will be useful too!
Integrate Other Marketing Strategies
If you’re marketing your YouTube videos, don’t just confine it to YouTube. Filipinos are incredibly active in various social marketing sites so consider those, too. Some of the best domains to post YouTube links include Facebook and Twitter. Another great way is by visiting videos that are somewhat related to yours and posting there. Video replies are also welcome but make sure to choose carefully when choosing a video to reply on.
It won’t happen overnight, but you can be sure that pretty soon, those YouTube subscriptions will rack up. Don’t forget the most important element of all – you have to provide your Filipino viewers with something that’s actually worth watching. Insert some humour into it the way Ramon Bautista or Lourd de Veyra does. That always gets into the Filipino heart.
