What should you do? Stuff your website with good content that is genuinely helpful to web surfers conducting searches. But how do you get Panda to recognize your content as being of high quality while still earning high rankings on Google results pages? Here are some tips.

  1. Create targeted content. “Targeted” means that you are producing content that people are actually looking for. Use Google’s Ad Words keyword research tool to look for keywords that a lot of people are doing searches for but which are not too competitive, meaning they do not appear too often on the web. Use these keywords in your content so that people doing searches in your niche can easily find you.
  2. Use keywords that are within your niche. For example, if you have a legal practice, you can use keywords such as ‘torts’ or ‘malpractice law’/’malpractice lawyers’. Use these keywords naturally within your content, as well as in alt tags and even the URL. But avoid using the words too often, since Google’s new algorithms will dismiss the content as not being relevant to a search. When Google decides that a particular piece of content is relevant, it will help it rank higher by assigning a weight to it.
  3. Be consistent in posting new content. There is nothing that Google loves more than fresh content. At the same time, however, it frowns on poor-quality content that is posted on the site just for the sake of getting indexed. Once your site has developed a reputation for regularly providing quality content, the Google bot is more likely to grab content from your site when a relevant search is conducted. And if you have a lot of content, you’ll get better results if you post a couple of articles at a time over a certain period rather than posting it all at once.
  4. Promote your content. Whenever one of your articles is reprinted on another site, it results in a backlink back to your site. The more of these high quality links you get, the more relevant the Google bot finds you and the higher the rankings you will get. You can use social media sites to generate page views and get the attention of Google. These articles can represent evergreen content that will constantly generate page views and traffic to your site from Google. You can even update these articles to make them more relevant and keep them ranked on Google.
  5. Add a resource box to your article. The resource box should contain a short bio of the author as well as contact information and a link back to your site. This will not only help drive traffic back to your site, it will also make it easier for people to find you if they want to avail of your services or buy your products.
